ALL pictures below taken 1/6/07 in our backyard!
Mother Nature in her finest!

A BLUE HERON on our pond trying to help himself to some fish.
Picture taken 2/6/07

3/8/07- 3 CANADIAN GEESE decided to land on our pond early in the morning.
We heard them come over the house and circle around and finally land after
scaring the dogs that were out. These geese are not scared of anything.....
they let me walk right up on them. I am sure we will not see them long but they are
a beautiful sight while they are here.
3/19/07- SPRING FEVER!!!!
TOADS on the pond one day....and then eggs a few days later!!!
Can't wait to see the TADPOLES then the baby TOADS
coming out of the water by the 100's.
The bull frogs, tree frogs and spring peepers have been busy as well.
IT sounds like a musical here at night time!
5/6/07 MOMMA AND DADDY BLUEBIRD taking care of their beautiful little babies.
Mom's on the watchout and Dad is doing the feeding! It is a family affair!
We are currently constructing an addition to our butterfly garden ready for SUMMER '07! We are making it much larger with different colored BUTTERFLY BUSHES (buddleia) and adding additional BIRD houses and feeders for a variety of birds...including purple martins. We are also adding a new water feature, a wildflower garden and a small greenhouse.
Adjacent to the above features we are also constructing a BOG GARDEN from what used to be a spring fed pond that has holes in it due to CRAWDADS! The springs and rainwater still fill the pond and keep it very damp...so what better way to fill it in than with beautiful bog plants that will help in the production and reproduction of frogs, toads, tree frogs, dragonflies and of course the occasional dreaded SNAKE! MOSQUITO's too you are thinking???? ALL of the above named amphibians will help keep the mosquito population under control as well as the BAT BOXES that will be placed up high in nearby trees!
STAY tuned for pictures. If you would like info on how to construct your own GARDENS for WILDLIFE email me and I can give you some simple ideas or visit www.nwf.org for more info on how to get started!
We can all HELP in little ways to make this world a more beautiful place to live! COME ON....get started today!
